Experts determine the volumes and sources of pollution

In Odesa, in the waters of the Black Sea, on the beach Vidrada, local residents noticed an oil slick.

Eco-inspectors took water samples for research, the press service of the Odesa City Council reports.

It is noted that a spot of unknown size was noticed on June 3.

"As of now, employees of the State Environmental Inspection, the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Regional State Administration, and the Department of Ecology and Development of Recreation Areas of the City Council are conducting joint actions to establish the volumes and sources of pollution and to inform law enforcement agencies in accordance with the established procedure," the message emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the owner of the ship STAVANGER compensated more than 36.5 million hryvnias for damages due to palm oil pollution of the water area of the Pivdenny seaport in Odesa. The accident happened in the spring of 2020, during which about 8.5 tons of palm oil got into the sea.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, dozens of tons of oil products, namely transformer oil, got into the Dniester River and the reclamation canal in the Stryi District of Lviv region. The employees of the separate division "Western Energy System" of Ukrenergo, from whose territory the leak occurred, did not take any measures to eliminate it.
