Due to flooding, household garbage, hazardous waste, the contents of cesspools, etc. can get into water bodies.

In Kramatorsk, in the village of Gorodeshchina, due to melting snow, a gateway broke through on one of the ponds.

Water flooded 260 houses on 30 streets, and 17 people had to be evacuated, the main department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk region reports on Facebook.

It is noted that rescuers are eliminating the cause of flooding.

"Preparatory measures are being taken to create a barrier in the spillway lock with the help of concrete blocks, bags of clay and sand and to clear the bed of the Bychok River to minimize the consequences of a water spill in the river," the press service said.

As you know, due to such flooding, household garbage, hazardous waste, the contents of cesspools, etc. can get into water bodies.

The Ministry of Health on Telegram reported that laboratory control of water quality will be strengthened in the affected areas. Rapid response teams of the Donetsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention are on high alert.

The Kramatorsk city council reported that as of April 5, it was possible to strengthen the coastline and carry out a number of technological measures on adjacent dams. Work to eliminate the consequences of a water spill in the Bychok River continues.

"The water pressure in the reservoir's spillway has decreased, the Bychok River has returned to its course. We continue to examine the flooded areas, pump out water from the basements of flooded houses, record and document the destruction," the press service said.

It is noted that people will receive compensation for damaged housing and assistance.

The city council also discussed further steps to clear the banks of the Bychok River and the measures necessary to prevent the recurrence of such situations in the future.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, environmental inspectors calculated more than 77 billion hryvnias in environmental damage as a result of pollution of the Ingulets River after a Russian missile attack on the dam of the Karachunovsky reservoir in Krivoy Rog.
