Eco-inspectors calculated more than 77 billion hryvnias in damages to the environment as a result of the pollution of the Ingulets River after the Russian missile attack on the dam of the Karachuniv Reservoir in Kryvyi Rih.

The water flooded large areas and more than 100 private estates, reports State Inspectorate on Telegram.

The message explained that this amount was calculated as a result of the discharge of pollutants into a water body with return water.

The shelling took place on September 14, 2022, and on the morning of September 16, the water leak from the reservoir was eliminated. The volume of the leak reached 16,873 m3.

The calculation materials were sent to law enforcement agencies and the Operational Headquarters of the State Inspectorate.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kryvyi Rih, the destruction of the dam of the Karachuniv Reservoir on the Ingulets River led to increasing the content of phosphates and nitrites in water, probably due to the flooding of utility networks and cesspools in the yards. Also, construction debris, which was formed as a result of the explosion, got into the river, and washed away plant remains and household garbage formed garbage islands.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, on September 16, local residents noticed that the water in the Ingulets River turned red.
