The dolphins probably died in the area of Byryuchy Island

Local residents find dead dolphins on the occupied coast of the Sea of Azov in the Zaporizhzhia region, on the territory of the Kosa Fedotova landscape reserve, near the village of Kyrylivka.

There are no traces of nets and screws on the bodies of the animals, so systematic explosions, noise and chemical pollution are the likely cause of death, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources reports in Telegram.

It is noted that the occupiers have set up at least three military training grounds where mortar units are trained. In addition, enemy aircraft constantly maneuver on the coast of the Sea of Azov and launch missiles.

In the message, it was assumed that the dolphins died in the area south of Byryuchy Island. After all, their bodies were found on the spit after a southwest storm.

The press service emphasized that currently, due to the occupation, Ukraine cannot fully assess the scale of the tragedy on the coast of the Sea of Azov.

"But Russia must be sure, after the liberation of our territories, the world will definitely learn the terrible truth about their environmental crimes," the Ministry of the Environment noted.

The message also urged Ukrainians to report all facts of damage to the environment through the "EkoZagroza" application.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in April 2023, more than 77 dead dolphins were registered in the waters of the Black Sea, in particular in the bays of Sevastopol and on other coasts of the occupied Crimea. Dolphins are also dying in the waters of occupied Mariupol.

Earlier, EcoPolitic spoke with ecologist, doctor of biological sciences Ivan Rusev. He said that during the year of the war in Ukraine about three thousand dolphins died, and, in general, 50 thousand died in the Black Sea.
