From April 1, the State Decarbonization Fund will be replenished at the expense of the "polluter pays" principle

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal says that one of the government's top priorities for 2024 will be energy independence, as envisioned in the annual Action Plan.

The plan includes the development of smart grids, continued decentralization of the energy system, and funding for energy efficiency projects and the Green Deal, the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving reports on Facebook.

"The key reform in this area is the implementation of European rules, as well as full integration with Europe," he said.

It is noted that Action plan of the government – Fr of key documents for the work of the Cabinet of Ministers and central executive bodies.

"The State Energy Efficiency team and I will continue to work hard on adapting the legislation in the field of energy efficiency and alternative fuels to EU requirements, creating stimulating tools so that green reconstruction, decarbonization and energy-efficient transformation become a high-quality and practical aspect of the life of the country and every community," the head emphasized Hanna Zamazeyeva of State Energy Efficiency.

The message said that the State Energy Efficiency Agency already has a number of tools to support regions and businesses in implementing energy-efficient projects during reconstruction, in particular:

  • The state fund for decarbonization and energy-efficient transformation, which will be replenished from April 1 due to the implementation of the European "polluter pays" principle and should become a source of funds for energy-efficient projects in various sectors of the economy;
  • Ukrainian national decarbonization platform UANDP, where communities, population and business will be able to obtain new knowledge and skills, access to the base of technology and equipment from global manufacturers, professional advice and support for the implementation of energy-efficient and green projects;
  • regional offices of energy efficiency and decarbonization – centers of interaction and practical work with communities on projects;
  • a number of legislative initiatives that will promote the development of energy markets from alternative fuels, the introduction of highly efficient cogeneration, etc.

Energy management systems, ESCO project implementation mechanisms, etc. will also be implemented during the year.
