Ukrainian company receives grant for eco-modernization of distillery

The company aims to reduce dependence on fossil energy sources in the production of alcoholic beverages

LVN Limited LLC has received a €1.3 million grant from the German government for the environmental modernization of the Nemyriv distillery in Vinnytsia region.

The plant will build a biogas complex for processing bards, or alcohol production waste, Andriy Gunko, coordinator of the GIZ project "Best Technology and Management Practices (BTM) in Ukraine," reports on Facebook.

He said that the share of donor funding from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is 20%. "LVN Limited has already announced a tender for the development of project documentation.

The company noted that they seek to reduce dependence on fossil energy sources in the production of alcoholic beverages.

"We are pioneers in innovative approaches to the use of renewable energy obtained from production waste, such as distillery sludge," said LVN Limited.

The message emphasized that the company strives to achieve zero carbon emissions with the help of the latest technologies and the production of organic fertilizers from production waste.

It is added that the GIZ project "NDTM in Ukraine" is designed to support the implementation of:

  • industrial pollution reforms;
  • environmentally friendly technologies;
  • reduction of industrial emissions, which is a crucial step on the way to sustainable development.
