Ukrainians can use state funds to restore housing destroyed by the war

In the restoration, they adhere to the principle of "doing better than it was"

As a result of the full-scale war in Ukraine, thousands of residential buildings were damaged and destroyed. The state program "VidnovyDIM" of the Energy Efficiency Fund is designed to solve this problem — Ukrainians can restore their housing with budget funds.

More details about the conditions of the program were told in the State Energy Efficiency Fund. It is noted that participants can receive grants for restoration work. So far, the Fund has received more than 165 applications for participation in this Program for a total amount of UAH 340 million.

Successful cases of the program

Among the completed projects is the restoration of the high-rise condominium "Nezalezhnost-2" from the city of Okhtyrka, which is located in the southeast of the Sumy region, 30 km from the Russian border.

"The bombing and constant shelling of the Russian Federation did not escape our house, in particular, part of the window and balcony blocks, the entrance door, and the roof were damaged in it. We learned about VidnovyDIM from Andrii Borovoy, regional advisor of the IFC Energy Efficiency Fund Support Program. Without hesitation, we conducted general meeting and decided to participate in this Program – they submitted an application in mid-December. With the grant received from the Foundation, window and balcony blocks, as well as doors were replaced. Now the residents of all apartments (and there are 21 of them in the building!) can live in their own homes. We are grateful to the Foundation for the coordinated work and qualified consultations that helped us implement the project quickly and efficiently," said Lydia Yatsenko, head of the "Independence-2" condominium.

The three-story condominium "Nezalezhnosti-2" received a grant from the Energy Efficiency Fund — over UAH 416,000. With these funds, energy-efficient windows and balcony frames were installed here, as well as doors were replaced — in the restoration, the Foundation also follows the principle of "doing better than it was". Not just to repair, but to provide truly comfortable living conditions by reducing energy consumption, reducing utility bills.

Terms of receipt and details of the grant program

The grant provided by the Energy Efficiency Fund within the framework of the "VidnovyDIM" Program finances 100% of the cost of works and materials needed for repairs. Own contribution of co-owners is not required. 70% of the condominium grant comes in advance, which makes it possible to quickly purchase the necessary materials and start the restoration of the house.

The "VidnovyDIM" program, financed by the European Union, operates on the territory of Sumy, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv regions, as well as the city of Kyiv. Currently, damaged houses can participate in it without breaking the mechanical stability of the supporting structures. But the Fund is finishing the implementation of the pilot and moving on to the main stage of the Program, which will include an expanded package of measures, in particular, repairs in public places, emergency work and provision of barrier-free access for groups of the population with reduced mobility.
