Ukraine signed a memorandum with the Lithuanian International Energy Cluster (IEC) on energy efficiency and decarbonization.
Cooperation will also involve the development of alternative fuels and highly efficient cogeneration, the head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Hanna Zamazeyeva reports on Facebook.
She said that IEC is an association of Lithuanian companies and scientific institutions in the field of energy, acting in coordination with government structures.
"They [IEC] are already targeting the implementation of a number of projects in our country. One of them is the modernization of the power grid to European standards in one of the regions of Ukraine," Zamazeyeva emphasized.
She noted that within the framework of cooperation, the State Energy Efficiency Agency plans to:
- make maximum use of Lithuania's experience in energy efficiency, decarbonization, and bioenergetics;
- attract Lithuanian knowledge and technologies;
- to work on projects and programs on energy efficiency in buildings, at the objects of heat energy, electricity, housing and communal services, as well as industrial and transport infrastructure of Ukraine.
Zamazeyeva emphasized that Lithuanian partners are interested in adapting European standards to machinery and equipment, i.e. eco-design, and creating a National Leasing Platform in Ukraine.
"On the platform, we will give access to Ukrainian consumers, communities and businesses to modern energy-efficient equipment from manufacturers from all over the world," she explained
Zamazeyeva added that Ukraine is interested in Lithuania's experience in the development of bioenergy. After all, the share of alternative fuels and waste in the country's centralized heat supply has doubled in recent years from 43% in 2012 to 82% in 2019.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, Hanna Zamazeyeva, said that Denmark is ready to fully support Ukraine's initiatives to help the population and enterprises become energy efficient and prepare for winter.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets said that Lithuania will help Ukraine in the processing of buildings destroyed by the war and other destruction waste.
