Ukraine and Denmark have started cooperation in the field of wind energy, the first stage of which involves accelerated study of the potential of Ukrainian offshore generation.
Research within the framework of the Memorandum on the expansion of energy partnership in the field of wind generation until September 2023 will be conducted by specialists of the World Bank and the Danish Technical University (DTU Wind), reports Government portal.
Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko emphasized that the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2050 envisages the rapid development of wind energy. This should ensure decentralized and sustainable generation in the future. Cooperation with Denmark plays an important role in achieving the set goals.
He added that Ukraine has significant potential for the development of offshore generation in the waters of the Black and Azov seas.
At Galushchenko's meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, the parties discussed directions for further cooperation in implementing the provisions of the Memorandum.
"Denmark is one of the world leaders in wind energy. And, according to the Memorandum, Ukraine will use Danish experience in the reconstruction of our energy system. It is about both offshore and onshore, in particular to achieve the goals of decentralization of generation," Galushchenko emphasized.
It is noted that at the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to work together on accelerating the energy transition in accordance with the goals and priorities of energy development of both countries.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in April Ukraine and Denmark signed an Agreement on the expansion of energy partnership in the field of wind generation.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, in May in the Mykolayiv region with a capacity of 114 MW from 19 wind turbines was launched.
