Ukraine should become one of the guarantors of European energy security

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, during his annual message to the Verkhovna Rada, stated that Ukraine should become and will become a leader in the construction of modern green energy.

This will enable a decentralized energy system, provide the country and the EU with clean energy, and also historically strengthen Ukraine's role in Europe, Deputy Minister of Energy ,Yaroslav Demchenkov, reports on Facebook.

Zelenskyi emphasized that the development of renewable energy sources will allow countering military, political, economic or climatic threats and challenges.

"This will allow us to create a decentralized energy system that cannot be destroyed by missile strikes. Today, everyone can see that it is dangerous when cities depend on several large power plants. A modern city needs decentralized sources of energy, and only green energy can really provide this," he emphasized.

Zelenskyi emphasized that Ukraine, thanks to the development of RES, atomic and hydrogen energy, will be able to provide for its needs, and in peacetime – for Europe. This will be a historic strengthening of Ukraine's role in Europe.

"We can, and therefore must, become one of the guarantors of European energy security. And this is a task for tomorrow. And today we have to get through and we will definitely get through this winter," said the President of Ukraine.

Demchenkov noted that the Ministry of Energy has already included these directions in the strategies and plans for the post-war recovery of the energy sector. This will make Ukraine stronger, more influential and wealthier.
