After modernization, the first kindergarten will be able to save 61% of the current energy consumption

In Ternopil, 39 kindergartens and schools began to implement a project to insulate and improve energy efficiency.

This will make it possible to increase the service life of buildings by at least 30 years and reduce annual carbon emissions by 300 tons, reports the Representation of the European Union.

It is noted that those educational institutions participating in the "Program for the Development of Municipal Infrastructure of Ukraine" from the European Investment Bank (EIB) are being modernized.

The message said that the modernization of the first kindergarten No. 32 has already begun and will continue until December 2023. The cost of repairs will reach UAH 18 million, which includes:

  • will carry out energy rehabilitation;
  • insulate the roof and floor;
  • the facade will be insulated (ventilated facade technology);
  • install energy-efficient windows and doors;
  • install a new heating system;
  • install ventilation systems,
  • install low-power LED lamps.

The message emphasized that after the modernization of the kindergarten, it will be able to save 61% of the current energy consumption. In addition, children will receive more comfortable conditions for studying, and the city will reduce the cost of paying for communal services.

It is planned that during 2023, work will begin on two more facilities.

The authors added that the modernization of all planned facilities will cost €30.5 million and will reduce gas consumption by 140,000 m3 per year.

It is noted that the project in Ternopil is part of the current EIB loan agreement - "Municipal Infrastructure Development Program of Ukraine". This is a multi-sector investment program with the volume of credit financing in the amount of €400 million, which is implemented by the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Zhytomyr plans to become the first climate-neutral city of Ukraine by 2050 and has already reduced carbon emissions by more than 40%, exceeding the 2022 goal of 30%.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the first SmartFlower solar energy system in Ukraine was opened in Ternopil, which looks like a sunflower and is capable of intelligently tracking the sun, producing up to 40% more energy.
