In Lutsk, the composting station has grown the third crop of greens and is preparing to collect the first cucumbers and tomatoes.
At the station, organic waste is turned into compost and used as fertilizer, according to the Facebook page of the "Clean Lutsk" waste management center.
The message said that the following are grown at the station:
- arugula;
- parsley;
- leek;
- basil;
- several types of salad;
- flowers;
- cucumbers;
- tomatoes
"We are very pleased with the fact that we are clearly showing the people of Lutsk how to not throw away organic waste (food scraps, grass clippings, leaves and twigs) in general trash, but to compost it all and use it in the garden as fertilizer," Chisto Lutsk emphasized.
It is noted that organic waste can be brought to the center, including leftover food, grass clippings, leaves and branches. The center has composters and special tanks for bio-waste.
The center is open from Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 7 Trunkina Street (entrance from Dubnivska Street). Phone: 0972344680.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Volyn, in Novovolynsk, there was an open meeting of city council members and the public with a potential investor regarding the construction of a waste processing plant. The plant will process plant residues and organic waste.
As EcoPolitic reported earlier, Poltava eco-activists called on communal workers to create conditions for composting organic waste, to avoid a repeat of the tragedy at the Hrybovytskyi landfill. After all, the largest share of community garbage is organic waste.
