Since the beginning of 2024, 64,000 seedlings of forest crops have been planted in Kyiv's urban forests.
In particular, on the International Day of Forests, 500 pine seedlings were planted on the territory of Bilodibrovo forestry, which were grown by employees of the Darnytsia Forestry and Parks Enterprise, the KCSA press service reports on Facebook.
According to Oleksandr Voznyi, director of the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation at the Kyiv City State Administration, as part of the spring campaign, specialists are planting seedlings to replace plants that have not taken root and reforest new areas.
"Special attention is paid to the areas damaged by the war," he said.
It is noted that in Kyiv, the total area under the jurisdiction of municipal forestry and parks reaches 31 thousand hectares.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Supreme Court upheld the ruling of the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal on the return of 3,000 hectares of Bilychansky Forest to the Kyiv community. The forest is part of the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park.
As EcoPolitics previously reported, in 2023, 8,223 trees, 78,826 bushes, and 321,200 seedlings were planted in Kyiv. Throughout the year, the city carried out ecological ice control, organized grass-free areas, cleared the Lybid River, etc.
