A pit was dug in Kyiv with an area of ​​1,000 m2 in the landscape reserve "Urochyshche Tserkovshchyna" in the Holosiiv district, which caused damage in the amount of 155.5 thousand hryvnias.

The day before, representatives of the police and the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center (KECC) found workers and cargo equipment, criminal proceedings will be initiated against the perpetrators, the State Inspectorate of the Capital District reports on Facebook.

The violation was recorded eco-inspectors together with employees prosecutor's office of Holosiiv district.

KECC, which is entrusted with security obligations, noted that on October 24, together with police officers, they visited the reserve to verify reports of illegal digging of pits.

"The facts have been confirmed. An excavator was working in the reserve, loading earth into a truck. A pit of about half a hectare and a depth of up to 5 meters has already been dug. The workers said that they were given an order to dig the ground in the nature reserve by the state administration of the Holosiiv district of Kyiv," the report says.

Environmentalists also added that the police stopped illegal earthworks in the nature reserve and drew up reports, sealed the equipment and will open a criminal case.

"It is necessary to protect the environment even during the war in order to rebuild the country not on "scorched" land," the press service of the State Inspection Service noted.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in in Kyiv, the prosecutor's office reported the suspicion of two citizens for illegal activity sand mining for 2.3 million UAH.
