The investigation establishes other participants in the crime

In Kyiv, the prosecutor's office reported the suspicion of two citizens for illegal extraction of sand worth 2.3 million hryvnias.

In July 2022, perpetrators, in collusion with officials, organized work on hydrotechnical washing (extraction) of sand from the territory of the coastal protection strip of the Dnipro River in Kyiv, the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reports on Facebook.

The citizens did not have the appropriate permits. They are suspected of large-scale illegal mining committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy (Part 3 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The press service noted that the issue of selecting preventive measures is currently being resolved. The investigation continues and other participants in the crime are identified.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wroye, that in Zakarpattia, businesswomen from the Tyachiv district reported suspicions of illegal extraction of sand and gravel mixture, which caused losses in the amount of more than 4 million hryvnias. The woman, having only an approved project for clearing the Tisza River bed, mined 6,000 m3 of subsoil.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the SSU detained the organizer of a criminal group in Kharkiv region for illegal mining of construction sand on an industrial scale for 1 billion hryvnias.
