In Kyiv, the Faculty of Plant Protection, Biotechnology and Ecology of NUBIP has installed a unique fandom for collecting plastic bottles and containers for collecting glass, paper and plastic.

It was installed at the initiative of the leadership of the Department of Ecology of the Agricultural Sphere and Environmental Control at the expense of benefactors in the 4th academic building, according to the NUBIP website.

It is noted that such fandoms are widespread in European countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, and others. These machines are becoming increasingly popular in Ukraine as a way to encourage people to recycle materials and reduce waste.

The report explained that the machine receives a plastic bottle through a round receiving window. It scans the volume, weight, and material of the container and sends it to a storage bag. The machine's scanner is capable of recognizing 30,000 barcodes and allows for accurate identification of the object.

"The main advantages of the fandom are that the machine motivates people to return empty containers faster, it is cheaper than traditional collection points, and plastic bottles are one of the most popular types of recyclables," said Olena Naumovska, head of the Department of Agricultural Ecology and Environmental Control.

It is noted that thanks to the fandom, the department's management and environmental students seek to draw the attention of young people to environmental issues, separate waste collection and sorting.

"The containers collected by the new machine will be recycled, and the money received for the plastic will be donated to charity," added Naumovska.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Vinnytsia launched a campaign to collect Russian books, the money from which will be donated to the needs of mobile firing groups of the air defense units "Center".
