In Kyiv, volunteers did not have time to save a red-listed elk that was hit by a car. The animal was spotted in the Park "Partyzanska Slava" in the Darnytsia district on Monday, June 19.

The culprit of the accident did not help the animal and did not call for help, reports the "Wild Animal Rescue Center" on Facebook.

According to eyewitnesses, the moose was very exhausted and breathing hard, and it was impossible to save its life. At first, the frightened animal ran around the football field, and then lay down.

However head of the "Wild Animal Rescue Center" Nataliya Popova tried to help the red-listed animal. However, the elk died on the way to the shelter.

Doctors assumed that the moose was hit by a car, because its side was badly bruised and the impact area was very large. The animal was taken for an autopsy, which will determine the cause of death.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Zhytomyr region, in the Korostyshiv forest farm, a forester found the remains of the carcass of a female moose, which was also carrying a cub. Red book animal defiantly killed by poachers.
