Rivne was the first to receive funds from the European Union for the implementation of innovations in Ukraine

In Rivne, the city authorities signed a memorandum of cooperation with the State Agency for Energy Efficiency, which will help the city develop a concept for energy efficiency measures and reduce air emissions.

As part of the agreement, a decarbonization office was opened. Viktor Shakyrzyan, Secretary of Rivne City Council, spoke about plans to install sensors that will measure the level of carbon dioxide emissions into the air. This is just one of the stages of cooperation between Rivne and the energy efficiency agency, Rivne 1 reports.

Representatives of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency noted that due to the war in Ukraine, the issues of energy saving and innovation in this area are becoming very important.

The city is currently forming a team that will be responsible for implementing decarbonization measures.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Office of Decarbonization and Energy Efficiency was opened in Kharkiv region, which became the fifth in Ukraine.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the US Department of Energy will allocate $425 million to finance green energy and industrial decarbonization projects in former coal regions.
