In Kryvyi Rih for 9 months of 2023, the volumes of industrial waste generation amounted to 81 million tons, and disposal – 47.4 million tons.
The amount of disposed waste decreased by 12% compared to the same period in 2022, reports the Department of Ecology of the Executive Committee of the Kryvyi Rih City Council on Facebook.
It is noted that as part of the implementation of the measures of the City Environmental Program during this time, 34.4 million tons of industrial waste were disposed of or reused for:
- crushed stone production;
- use for industrial purposes;
- backfilling of quarries, mine collapse zones and funnels;
- mining reclamation of lands.
The message said that in 2023, a number of enterprises started or continued programs to reduce the amount of industrial waste, for example:
- PJSC "Ingulets Mining and Processing Plant" – the sale of talc shale began in August;
- JSC "Southern Mining and Processing Plant" – use of pulp thickening technology;
- PJSC "Kryviy Rig Cement" – use of ash slag, which is formed during the firing of cement clinker;
- PrJSC "CGZK", PrJSC "SUHA BALKA", JSC "Kryvbaszalizrudkom" – use of overburden and empty rocks for mining reclamation of lands for backfilling of quarries, mine collapse zones and sinkholes;
- "Kryvbaszalizrudkom" JSC – the conclusion of the environmental impact assessment of the planned activity "Biological remediation of the tailings storage facility and the dam of Pokrovska (Oktyabrska)" JSC "Kryvbaszalizrudkom" was received. The implementation of the project "Remediation of waste rock warehouses No. 4, No. 9 and the storage of substandard ore fraction" is in progress mass No. 8 on the territory of the mining concession of the Pokrovska mine.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kryvyi Rih in 2022, the volume of industrial waste generation decreased by 60%, and the volume of placement – by 67% due to the decline in production in wartime conditions.
