The reasons for the shoaling are being established

Near Odessa, the right side dries up Khadzhibey estuary in the villages of Khomynka and Yehorivka of the Rozdilnian district.

The shallowing of the estuary was reported by concerned citizens who contacted the government's "hotline" at the beginning of July, the State Environmental Inspection of the South-Western District reports on Facebook.

In the message, it was emphasized that the State Inspectorate has created an interdepartmental commission, which includes representatives of:

  • Dachna village community;
  • Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of Odesa Regional State Administration;
  • Basin Management of Water Resources of the Black Sea and Lower Danube Rivers.

"Currently, additional measures are being taken to establish the reasons for the shallowing," the press service emphasized.

The estuary is located 7 km from Odessa. Its bottom is covered with a layer of black silt, which has healing properties, which is why the Khadzhibey resort was opened at its base.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP wetlands were completely silted up "Great and Small Kuchugury Archipelago" and "Zaplava Seven Beacons" in Zaporozhye. These reservoirs have the status of international importance and are included in the list of Ramsar sites.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, research by ecologist Vladyslav Balinskyi showed that hundreds of tons of mussels died in the Odesa water area due to desalination as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP. In the pool of the "Dog" beach near the shore about 50% of all mussels died.
