Construction of the building of the future waste processing plant in Dergachi, near Kharkiv, is 97% complete.

This waste recycling complex will be the first in the region, the State Environmental Inspectorate in Kharkiv Oblast reports on Facebook.

It is noted that the complex will have a system for collecting, utilizing landfill gas and generating electricity that meets European standards.

The report emphasized that the plant will be able to process 250 thousand tons of waste per year. In addition, the new enterprise will create 152 new jobs.

"Kharkiv is not only one of the largest cities in Ukraine, but also located in the frontline zone, so effective waste management in the city is an indicator not only of environmental awareness but also of readiness for crisis situations," the State Environmental Inspectorate emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that a comprehensive project to build a new solid waste landfill and repair treatment facilities is planned to be implemented in Lozova, Kharkiv Oblast.
