A lake of sewage has formed in Zmiiv, Kharkiv region, a few meters from the cemetery, and is flowing through a pipe into a tributary of the Mzha River.
A environmental activist and head of the Zmiiv. Public Guard" Volodymyr Moiseev said that the sewage is systematically discharged by Zmiyiv-Service, according to a story by Media-Zmiyiv on Facebook.
"Do you hear the smell? The sun came out and the lake began to bubble. The bacteria, which should not enter the river, begin to work," he said.
Moiseev noted that impurities from the lake through a cascade of overflows fall into the pipe located in the middle of the meadow. In this way, sewage enters the river, which is a tributary of the Mzha River, which in turn is a tributary of the Siverskyi Donets.
The article suggested that a new batch of waste was recently poured into the lake, as there are fresh traces of traffic near the reservoir. Although there are sewage treatment plants nearby.
"This is all the result of inaction on the part of local authorities. Nothing is done for years. Everyone knows everything, but no one needs it. I am sure that everything [filth] seeps into the groundwater," the eco-activist emphasized.
It is noted that the sewage pipe, located in the middle of the meadow, is heavily polluted with sludge. In addition, in some areas, sewage flows directly onto the ground. In order to eliminate pollution, Moiseyev turned to the police and is preparing appeals to other bodies and authorities.
As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Kharkiv Oblast in Zmiiv sewage waste from sewage treatment plants in large quantities enters the Mzha River, which is a tributary of the Siversky Dinets, which can provoke an ecological disaster.
