This is already the third landslide in the region for 2024

On February 12, 11.5 hectares of soil landslide in Zakarpattia, damaging thousands of spruce trees.

The sinkhole was formed on the territory of the Yasinya Forestry and Hunting Range, the state-owned enterprise Forests of Ukraine reported on Facebook.

It is noted that the emergency situation did not harm people. According to foresters, it was caused by prolonged rainfall, which soaked the soil too much.

This is already the third shift in the region for 2024, because:

In the discussion of the post in social networks, users emphasized that if there were trees on the territory, such catastrophic landslides would not have occurred.

"It will get worse in the future. Because the barbarians think that they will outwit everyone. Conducted large-scale continuous "sanitary" felling in anti-erosion forests. Part of the Proterozoic forests was converted into exploitation forests. Apparently, the angle of the slopes according to the documents suddenly changed. Congratulations!" wrote Oksana Stankevich-Volosyanchuk, an environmentalist and head of the public organization "Ekosphere".

A large number of trees with a powerful root system create natural reinforcement of the slopes. After all, their roots penetrate deep into the soil and hold it on the slope.

Ealier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Transcarpathia, eco-inspectors discovered illegal felling of trees in the forest in Khust region for 1.52 million hryvnias and in the regional landscape park "Prytisyanskyi" for 0.5 million hryvnias.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-inspectors in Transcarpathia calculated 24.8 million hryvnias in damages for cutting down 421 trees in the regional landscape park "Prytisyanskyi".
