192 people and 24 pieces of equipment, including 2 airplanes and 2 helicopters, extinguished the fire in about a day

In Zacarpattia, in the Uzhhorod Forest Farm, due to careless handling of the fire, a fire destroyed more than 90 hectares of forest on Mount Savchyn between the settlements of Begendyatska Pastil and Kosteva Pastil.

This caused significant environmental and financial damage, the head of the State Forestry Agency, Yurii Bolokhovets, reported on Facebook.

The fire caused tens millions of hryvnias in damages, not taking into account the loss of ecosystem services, the loss of fire cleanup and the cost of creating new forest crops.

"People come to the forest (despite the ban), light a fire, and then do not put it out properly," said Bolokhovets.

The fire instantly spreads through the forest fund, and foresters and rescuers put out the fire for several days.

State Emergency Service noted that the fire was extinguished in about a day by 192 people and 24 pieces of equipment, including 101 people and 21 pieces of equipment from the State Emergency Service, and 2 airplanes and 2 helicopters.

Bolokhovets noted that the construction of one recreational point, as an alternative to safe rest in the forest, costs foresters 200-400 thousand UAH. Damages from forest fires amount to tens of millions of hryvnias and tens of years of reconstruction of areas.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Ukraine criminal liability will be strengthened for arson of fallen leaves, stubble, etc., which provoked the destruction or damage of plant life objects.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Zacarpattia region, in the village of Nevytske, due to the burning of dry grass and bushes 269 families were left without gas supply.
