The number of spotted deer in the Zviriv hunting district reached 226 individuals

In the Volyn region, the 2022/2023 hunting season will not be opened in order to increase the population of the main species.

There are 30 aviaries for keeping and breeding hunting species in the region, which effectively help to increase the number of animals, the Volyn Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting reports on Facebook.

So foresters of the region have been working on pheasant breeding for 5 years. During this period, about 15,000 individuals were released, and more than 7,000 were raised.

"The pheasant settles in our conditions well. The other day, 200 adults were released into the wild at the Zviriv Forestry of the State Enterprise Kivertsivske LG," the report said.

Also, 25 male spotted deer, specially brought from Poland, were released into the natural areas in the Kivertsi Forest Farm to rejuvenate the population.

The message emphasized that the foresters agreed with the neighboring private user of the hunting grounds on the joint release of deer: 25 – state forest farm, 25 – private user.

According to the data of the winter census of 2022, the number of spotted deer in the Zviriv hunting district reached 226, and red deer – 27.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Rivne region, two poachers who were hunting red-listed moose from a group of about 10 hunters were detained for 3 years

As EcoPolitic previously reported, during the 2021-2022 hunting season in Polissia, eco-inspectors conducted 120 raids and discovered 102 violations, in particular, hunting for red-listed animals.
