In Volyn, the director of a meat processing plant from the Volodymyr district, who organized the discharge of waste from animal carcasses into a forest strip near the village of Ozyutychi, will be tried.

This caused significant soil pollution, the Volodymyr District Police Department reports on Facebook.

The report emphasized that the liquid drained by the meat processing plant was red in color with a pronounced specific smell. Such pollution poses a danger to human life and health, as well as to the environment.

It is noted that the company violated the following laws:

  • "On environmental protection";
  • "About waste";
  • "On land protection".

The press service added that the director of the meat processing plant is accused of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art. 239 of the Criminal Code (Illegal possession of soil cover (surface layer) of lands). The article provides for a fine of two hundred to five hundred tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or restriction of freedom for a period of up to three years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years.

"The degree of punishment for him [the violator] will be determined by the court," the message emphasized.
