In the Ternopil region, the Court of Appeals left the complaint of the grass pile regarding compensation of 8,000 hryvnias to the association of hunters and fishermen for the death of a Rusak hare in a fire without satisfaction.
In April 2020, a man set fire to dry grass on a pasture in the village of Hrytsivtsi, Zbaraz district, a wild animal died during the fire, reports T1 News.
For an administrative offense, a resident of Ternopil paid a fine of 600 hryvnias, which was calculated by eco-inspectors. The man did not appeal the decision.
"By violating the requirements for the protection of the habitat of wild animals, the violator caused damage to the state hunting fund in the amount of UAH 8,000. Therefore, the Ternopil regional organization of the Ukrainian Association of Hunters and Fishermen appealed to the court with a lawsuit against the husband and asked to collect UAH 8,000 in material damages from the defendant," the report says.
The court of first instance satisfied the claim, but the man did not agree with this decision. He filed an appeal and asked in the lawsuit to deny the association of hunters and fishermen in full and to recover from it the costs incurred by him, in particular for the services of a defense attorney.
The panel of judges of the Ternopil Court of Appeal dismissed the husband's appeal, and the decision of the Zbaraz District Court of May 31, 2022 remained unchanged.
