The man's actions caused damages in the amount of more than 610 thousand hryvnias

In the Volyn region, a resident of the village of Toykut was accused of arson, as a result of which the fire destroyed 14 hectares of forest in the Panske tract in the Kovel district.

The arsonist is threatened with imprisonment for a term of five to ten years, it is reported by Volyn regional prosecutor's office.

He was informed about suspicion of destruction of forest massifs by fire, which caused serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation believes that the man set fire to branches and dry grass in the Panske tract, which borders the forest massif of Zarichan Forestry Tur. The fire spread to the forest massif, occupying an area of ​​more than 14 hectares.

The man's actions caused damages in the amount of more than 610 thousand hryvnias.

Sanction, part 2 of Art. 245 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for the destruction of forest areas, green areas around the settlement, as well as stubble, dry wild grasses, vegetation, and its remains on agricultural land by fire, which caused serious consequences, provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Ukraine during the 4 months of the war, 43% of fires occurred due to the fault of irresponsible Ukrainians who committed 30,205 fires were set.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Zakarpatta, grass piles were destroyed 0.7 ha of wheat on private allotments and another 7 hectares of dry vegetation of this pasture.
