As you know, Tovtrovyi Step protects an integral fragment of the Tovtrovyi Ridge, habitats of rare and endangered species of plants and insects. A significant part of the reserve is occupied by steppe communities listed in the Green and Red Books of Ukraine, as well as plant species included in the List of Rare and Threatened Species of Flora in Ternopil Oblast.

As GMK Center reported earlier, an auction was held in Volyn to grant a special permit for sand extraction from the Starovyzhivske deposit, 150 hectares of which are located in the Smolyarivskyi general zoological reserve.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the family of scandalous Lviv businessman Ihor Hrynevych, who is under investigation, has an illegal 600 m2 mansion with a swimming pool in the middle of the forest, which is partially located on protected land.
