In Transcarpathia, the Synevyr community presented to the Regional Council projects to minimize pollution of the Tereblyan valley with household waste, including deep sorting, development of organic tourism and production.
More than 300,000 tourists visit the valley every year, which can provide substantial income for the community, the press service of the Zakarpattia Regional Council reports on Facebook.
The representatives of the community discussed the projects with Andriy Sheketa, the first deputy head of the regional council, and Myroslava Lyvch, the head of affairs of the regional council, the deputy head of the board of the Euroregion Carpathians-Ukraine Association.
It is noted that the proposed projects can become a new tourist magnet of Transcarpathia.
"Wasteless waste"
The press service explained that the project offers an innovative approach to minimizing pollution of the territories of ecologically oriented municipalities of the border region. As part of the initiative, the organization of in-depth sorting of solid household waste in settlements and places where tourists gather, eco-educational and promotional activities, etc. is envisaged.
"Local brands of traditional crafts and natural products"
The authors emphasized that the project is aimed at the formation of organic tourism as an innovative tool for piloting economic and social projects in the communities of Ukraine, Poland, and France. The community is ready to "go all the way" to label their products with the "Organic" label.
The report noted that organic production, which does not use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or preservatives, is gaining popularity in the world.
Educational co-working centers
The press service emphasized that such centers will become a focus of online education and youth cross-border partnership. Currently, there is no high-quality mobile communication and fiber-optic Internet in homes in mountainous regions.
The representatives of the regional council assured the community of the support of the deputies and shared the most effective algorithm for the implementation of these projects.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Transcarpathian region, territorial communities will be able to receive grants for the creation of recycling centers with a press for plastic.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Hungarian government provided the Transcarpathian Regional Council with about $2.45 million for construction of the first waste sorting plant in the region in the village of Yanoshi, Berehiv district.
