In the Rivne region, an excess of nitrates was found in 30% of wells, as well as non-compliance with the standard in about 15% of water samples from centralized networks and non-compliance with microbiological indicators in 5%.
Olena Gashovska, deputy general director of the regional center for disease control and prevention, told about it, reports Public.
It is noted that the research was conducted in 2022-2023.
Gashovska emphasized that the largest number of pollution norm exceedances was found in:
- March;
- Radyvylovi;
- Zarichnoh;
- Kortsi;
- Klesov;
- Rokytny.
She said that after the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the residents of the region repeatedly appealed to the Central Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan that it might be better to use water from wells. However, water pollution with nitrates carries a significant risk. Thus, in previous years, there were cases of water-nitrate methemoglobinemia in babies in the Rivne region, that is, dangerous nitrate poisoning.
Gashovska emphasized that before drinking water from the well, especially small children, it must be examined. However, it is better to use bottled water or from centralized supply sources.
We will remind in the Rivne region, doctors named cities and towns in which the quality of drinking water from centralized water supply networks is poor does not meet quality and safety indicators.
As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in the Rivne region the court partially stopped the activity of Color S.I.M. LLC, that in the village of Klevan, to eliminate air pollution. The facility operated without a special permit for emissions from 30 additional stationary sources, and its emissions had a strong solvent odor and caused health problems for residents.
