During the full-scale war in the Black Sea, more than 50,000 dolphins died

In Odesa, scientists from the national nature park "Tuzlivski lymani" found new remains of dead dolphins on the coast.

National park biologist Ivan On his Facebook page, Rusev suggested that these dolphins died in the summer due to the sonar of Russian enemy ships.

He noted that no dead dolphins have been found on the coast in recent months. In addition, scientists also noticed live animals.

Rusev emphasized that the bones were found by chance on a sandy embankment far from the water. It shows that dolphins were pulled from the shore by predators – jackals, badgers, foxes, stray dogs.

The biologist noted that enemy ships and a submarine carrying cruise missiles used powerful sonar. The sound waves made the dolphins "blind", unable to feed and navigate in space.

"The total number of dead cetaceans of the three species in the Black Sea, due to military actions, according to our final calculations and estimates, is much more than 50,000 individuals since the beginning of the war in 2022," he emphasized.

Rusev also emphasized that the sea washes up only about 5% of all dead animals, and the rest goes to the bottom, which makes registration impossible.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Odesa region, the prosecutor's office opened criminal proceedings on the fact of ecocide, namely, the mass death of dolphins that has been going on for half a year in the Black Sea due to the military aggression of the Russians.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Odesa, in the Black Sea area, near the national natural park "Tuzlivski Lymani", scientists and local residents noticed dolphins who were forced to stay for the winter.
