In Lviv region, the head of the Slavske forestry, who is a member of the village council, his wife, and three land surveyors were notified of suspicion for attempting to misappropriate 0.35 hectares of forestry land and a forester's house on the territory.
The cost of the land and the 200 m2 house is more than UAH 3 million, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reports.
It is noted that the defendants are charged with forgery of official documents, their use and unfinished attempted misappropriation of another's property, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Part 1, Part 4 of Article 358, Part 3 of Article 15, Part 5 of Article 191, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the head of the forest farm, being a deputy and head of the land use commission of the village council, decided to appropriate a plot of forest with a forester's house located on it. He involved four accomplices to implement the arrangement.
"On behalf of his wife, he wrote an application to the village council for the preparation of a land management project regarding the allocation of 0.35 hectares of land for the management of a personal peasant farm," the report says.
The press service said that after the adoption of a positive decision, the land managers produced a document with violations of the requirements of the law. They did not indicate whether the site belonged to the forest fund and the property located on it.
It is noted that the decision to transfer the land was approved in February 2022. However, they did not have time to register the ownership, because the forestry official became aware of the exposure of the scheme.
"To cover up the illegal actions, the village council canceled its previous decisions at the request of the deputy's wife," the press service said.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspects, removing the head of the forestry from office, as well as seizing property for its further confiscation is currently being decided.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the family of scandalous Lviv businessman Ihor Hrynevych, who is under investigation, has an illegal 600 m2 man sion with a swimming pool in the middle of the forest, which is partially located on protected land.
