In the Luhansk region, the fire at the Lysychansk Mining and Industrial College, which occurred due to artillery shelling by Russian troops, caused damage to the environment in the amount of 1,716,697 hryvnias.

The fire broke out in June 2022 in the college building with an area of ​​3,370 m2, the State Inspectorate reports on Facebook.

This amount was calculated by the specialists of the Operational Headquarters of the SEI, because during the fire there was an unorganized release of pollutants into the atmosphere.

The college also had historical value, because it was built in the 19th century as the Lysychansk Steiger School.

Specialists of the headquarters have already entered more than 450 ecocrimes committed by russia into the Register of Damages.

"For several hundred years, the institution worked, developed, new specialties appeared, thousands of students gained knowledge. This would continue to be the case if the russian invaders had not come to our Ukrainian land and started liberating us," the SEI noted.

The calculation of damage was carried out in accordance with the Methodology for calculating unorganized emissions of polluting substances or a mixture of such substances into the atmospheric air as a result of the occurrence of emergency situations and/or during the operation of martial law and determining the extent of the damage caused, the calculation of the damage caused to the environment is.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that shelling by russian troops of the national scientific center "Kharkiv Physical and Technical Institute" caused damage to the environment in the amount of 14.8 billion UAH.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Luhansk region as a result of the actions of russian troops fires destroyed 26,043 hectares of forest, which caused damage to the environment in the amount of about 98.7 billion hryvnias.
