The experts decided to create a list of priority measures to restore water ecosystems, because their condition has a direct impact on public health

In Ukraine, the remnants of equipment, weapons of war, damaged hydro and treatment facilities in water bodies as a result of Russian armed aggression can lead to an environmental disaster.

Representatives of the State Ecological Inspectorate, the State Agency for Water Resources, the Ministry of Defense and the public discussed the issues of fixing such cases, identifying pollution and ways to restore ecosystems, the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Capital District reports on Facebook.

The report noted that due to Russian military aggression, in particular because of the shelling of critical infrastructure, a large number of chemical components enter the water bodies.

At the meeting, environmental inspectors spoke about the situation in Kyiv and the Kyiv region regarding the consequences of hostilities for water bodies after de-occupation. In particular, about the problems of applying the Methodology for determining the damage caused due to pollution and/or clogging of water as a result of military operations in the Kyiv region.

The press service noted that, based on the results of the round table, it was decided:

  • to establish interaction between the State Water Agency and the State Environmental Inspectorate regarding the conduct of high-quality laboratory studies of the state of water bodies and the level of pollution as a result of military aggression;
  • implement continuous monitoring of groundwater in the place where significant soil pollution has occurred;
  • form a list of chemicals in rockets that harm water systems and predict their impact;
  • create a list of priority measures for the restoration of water ecosystems, because their condition directly affects the health of the population.

As EcoPolitic reported before, the head of the Lugansk regional administration, Sergiy Gaidai, said that even at the beginning of the occupation of Severodonetsk people were poisoned by cadaveric poison in the water, after all, the Russian troops did not take their dead. Now the number of dead has increased many times, especially in the area between the cities of Svatovo and Kremennaya.
