Occupiers destroyed more than 10,000 hectares of forest on the territory of the Lyman community

Despite active hostilities in Donetsk region, it is planned to restore about 100 hectares of forest in the Holy Mountains National Nature Park in 2024.

The Drobyshevske forestry, which is part of the Lyman forestry, has already planted 10,000 pine seedlings in the mined part of the national park, Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk regional military administration, reports on Facebook.

He said that before the full-scale invasion, children and adults from many regions of the country were resting and recuperating in the national park.

"But the Russians burned and destroyed everything," emphasized Filashkin, "The occupiers destroyed more than 10,000 hectares of forest in the Lyman community alone. But despite the active hostilities, we continue to restore the forests."

It is noted that the forests of the Lyman region are being restored from local seeds grown in the Lviv Forestry Selection and Seed Center. The local nursery was destroyed by the occupiers. The seedlings are being provided free of charge.

Earleir, EcoPolitic wrote, that the State Bureau of Investigation served a notice of suspicion to a former employee of the Slavic Forestry for illegal deforestation, which caused 700 thousand hryvnias in damage.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Russian occupants deliberately set fire to forests, in particular to expose the positions of the Ukrainian military.
