The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources will discuss the developed project of the National Cadastre of Anthropogenic Emissions from Sources and Absorption by Sinks of Greenhouse Gases in Ukraine for 1990-2021.
The document will make it possible to analyze trends in emissions and absorption of greenhouse gases in Ukraine and, based on them, to form further climate policy, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.
It is noted that the National Cadastre was developed jointly with the National Center for Accounting for Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Thanks to it, the international community will be able to assess the dynamics of changes in emissions in Ukraine and the effectiveness of the measures taken.
"The document was developed in accordance with the requirements of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. After all, Ukraine is a party to the Convention and, even in spite of the war, seeks to contribute to the global fight against the climate crisis," the message reads.
The press service emphasized that submission of the National Cadastre to the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is part of Ukraine's international obligations.
It is noted that the National Cadastre will also help enterprises that register their installations in the Unified Register for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of Greenhouse Gas Emissions. After all, data from the cadastre are necessary for calculations and reporting.
