During his work in the Eco Committee, Marikovsky became a participant in several scandals with other People's Deputies

People's Deputy from "Sluga Narodu" Oleksandr Marikovsky left his position as deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management.

He wrote about this on Thursday, October 6, on his Facebook page.

Marikovsky said that the field of environmental protection lost its importance and relevance during the war and he plans to deal with other areas in another committee.

The People's Deputy has held this position since 2019.

Marikovsky and his team started by holding parliamentary hearings on the topic: "Priorities of the environmental policy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for the next five years."

Among the main achievements of his team during the 3 years of work in the Eco Committee, the People's Deputy named:

  • the beginning of a complex reform in the field of waste with the framework draft law No. 2207-1d. It was his project that became the Law of Ukraine "On Waste Management";
  • worked on draft law No. 2351 "On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine (regarding the implementation of the provisions of some international agreements and EU directives in the field of animal and plant protection)", together with Yulia Ovchinnykova's team, which became the Law of Ukraine and significantly improved the state of affairs regarding humanization of our society;
  • carrying out the implementation in the Law on Public Procurement of a non-price environmental criterion for evaluating proposals with a specific weight of up to 10% of the budget;
  • passing through the first reading of draft law No. 3091 "On state environmental control".

However, during his work in the eco-committee, Marikovsky became a member of several scandals with other people's deputies, in particular with Oleksandr Yurchenko and Anton Yatsenko. He is also had conflict with the head of the eco-committee Oleg Bondorenko. He was accused of delaying the garbage reform and not publishing the document.

Marikovsky in January 2022 was suspended from work on draft law No. 2207-1d, which was finalized by People's Deputy Pavlo Yakymenko.
