A 0.6MW solar power plant (SPP) has been launched in Lutsk, which will almost completely cover the electricity needs of the local water utility.

This was reported by Lutsk City Council.

The SPP is located at the water treatment plant, which supplies 70% of the city with water. It consists of 4 modular photovoltaic stations.

The solar power station operates on the Net Billing principle: during peak generation hours, the solar power plant fully supplies water treatment facilities with generated energy, and the excess is transferred to the general energy network of Ukraine. During a blackout, photovoltaic plants will balance the generators.

Only at the end of April, at a session of the Lutsk City Council, deputies decided to implement local borrowing for the construction of a solar power plant. And in less than 4 months the power plant began to operate.

According to Victor Gumenyuk, director of the Lutskvodokanal utility company, the budget for the own generation project is €540 thousand. The source of financing is a loan from Ukreximbank JSC under the “5-7-9” program for 5 years. The payback period of the project is 4.5 years.

In August, EcoPolitic talked about the Vinnitsa logistics center, which completely covers your energy needs thanks to the installation of solar power plants and energy storage equipment.
