Every year, energy storages become more accessible and popular

Over the past 4 years, one of the main directions of battery development has been the joint construction of RES facilities with 25% of new capacities of energy storage systems (ESS).

This trend is facilitated by regulatory incentives, economic advantages, as well as the latest projects of auctions and PPAs for hybrid installations, reports the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine on Facebook.

Hybrid RES+energy storage installations have already started operating in the USA, Germany, Australia, Portugal and India.

Every year, energy storages are becoming more affordable and popular, mostly due to a significant reduction in cost, as well as an increase in the scale of production and innovations in the technological field. The article noted that the cost of batteries will decrease over time.

According to the International Energy Agency, more than 70% of energy storage costs go to large-scale systems of network importance. Private household batteries are lagging behind due to higher supply chain impacts and price inflation (commodity impact).

"As the market grows, these systems show great versatility and are increasingly used for load redistribution, energy arbitrage, and contractual capacity purchases," the material said.

Earlier EcoPolitic wrote, that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law on development of storage systems energy

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the National Commission for the Regulation of Energy and Utilities approved the license conditions for energy storage activities.
