The forest was planned to be built

The Supreme Court upheld the ruling of the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal to return 3,000 hectares of Bilychansky Forest to the Kyiv community.

The forest is part of the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reports on Facebook.

"The Bilichyan forest has finally been returned to the community of Kyiv," the mayor emphasized.

Klitschko noted that in 2021, the Kotsyubynskoe settlement illegally expanded its territories at the expense of the Bilichan Forest, which is part of Kyiv.

"The Buchansk District Council tried to take the forest from Kyiv in order to give it for development. But the capital authorities defended the interests of Kyivans in the courts," he said.

Klitschko added that lawyers from the Department of Land Resources of the KMDA worked on the case. They achieved the cancellation of the decision of the Buchansk District Council.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that near the village of Kotsiubynske, which belongs to Kyiv, the Bilychanskyi forest, which is part of the Holosiivskyi National Nature Park, is being massively cut down. The fight for the Bilychanskyi forest has been going on for about 15 years.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in September 2023, the Kyiv Court of Appeal overturned the decision of the Bucha City Council to increase the territory of Kotsiubynske village by 3000 hectares at the expense of a plot in the Bilychansky Forest.
