Electrification of municipal transport is an important condition for Ukraine's accession to the EU

Ukraine is gradually adopting the European "rules of the game" and starting to implement energy-efficient solutions, including in the transportation infrastructure. On December 15, the European Council made a historic decision to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. This means that parliamentarians are already amending laws to harmonize legislation and find compromises between Ukrainian practice and strict EU rules.

The electrification of municipal transport and the replacement of traditional fuels with electric energy sources is becoming a mandatory step for Ukraine. This is in line with the strategic goals of sustainable development and contributes to the creation of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient urban environments.

As part of Green course transport policy, the following tasks are envisaged:

  • transition to completely clean energy, energy with minimal emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants;
  • formation of transport systems that maximize the use of vehicles on low-carbon fuels;
  • implementation of quick and effective measures to reduce pollution;
  • achieving climate neutrality of the EU by 2050.

In the context of the implementation of the Green course transport policy, the "AUTO-REGION" company is an active participant in the comprehensive implementation of advanced technologies in the field of urban electric transport in Ukraine. "AUTO-REGION" is an official partner of the world's leading bus manufacturer TEMSA in Ukraine.

Mykyta Haydamaha, head of the TEMSA project, emphasizes that the introduction of urban electric transport in Ukraine today is a critically important step towards the modernization of urban transport and compliance with European standards:

"Electric transport is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution. One new electric bus in Ukraine can reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 1,400 tons per year, and reduce fuel and maintenance costs for cities by 60% per year. The introduction of urban electric transport in Ukraine is already a strategically important step that will contribute to economic development, environmental sustainability and compliance with European standards."

In Ukraine today it is possible to order 4 models of electric buses, in particular TEMSA AVENUE ELECTRON, TEMSA MD 9 ELECTRICITY, Avenue EV, TEMSA LD SB E. The company already today receives numerous requests from business structures and leaders of territorial communities regarding the cost and economic benefits of electric buses – this shows about the high level of interest in switching to this energy-saving mode of transport.

"Given the limited number of electric transport manufacturers on the world market and the growing demand, starting the process of electrification of transport today will help avoid possible delays due to overloading of manufacturers and possible price increases. Ukraine should focus on the purchase of electric buses today. After all, this is a long-term program that involves the construction of a system of charging stations, appropriate routes and the selection of electric buses. This requires at least 1 year from the moment of signing the contract. Today, we have all the necessary resources and partnerships for the successful integration of electric transport in Ukrainian cities, and we believe in the successful implementation of this plan," emphasized Mykyta Haydamaha.
