In the Sumy Oblast, a resident of the village of Kamianka, Vitaly Kukol, set up the production of gasoline in his own yard from plastic that he collects in the vicinity of the community.
He makes gasoline with an octane number of 80 for refueling his motorcycle, reports Suspilne.
"One kilogram of plastic yields 200 grams of gasoline, 150 grams of kerosene, 300 grams of diesel fuel, and another 350 grams of wax, petroleum jelly, and a paraffin mixture, can you imagine? From just one kilogram," Kukol said.
He explained that he was using an already improved second apparatus for fuel production, which he had converted from his grandfather's moonshine apparatus. When the plastic is heated to 400°C, the process begins dehydration and raw materials turn into vapors of gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, wax, petroleum jelly, paraffin and gases.
According to the inventor, he receives gasoline with impurities, so it has to be cleaned again. Gasoline is suitable for Zhiguli cars and his motorcycle-moped.
Kukol explained that he started making fuel in order not to spend money from the family budget.
He emphasized that the most difficult part of the process is the preparation of raw materials, because the plastic has to be cut into pieces in order to put it in the oven. However, not all plastic is suitable for production, as during the high-temperature processing of PET, that is, traditional bottles, the poisonous gas dioxin is formed.
Kukol uses HDPE plastic caps, plastic buckets, parts from old machinery, etc. to produce gasoline.
He added that he wanted to start the industrial production of fuel from plastic in the community and appealed to the leadership of the community and region. However, the initiative was ignored.
