1496 air samples were analyzed in the observatory

In the air of Kyiv during the week with October 23 to 28 exceedance of average daily maximum permissible concentrations was detected formaldehyde 2.2 times.

Compared to the previous week, the content of formaldehyde, sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide has increased, according to the weekly report on air pollution from the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.

According to the observatory, the exceedance of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) for the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide was:

  • by 1.8-2.1 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Beresteyski and Obolonski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, Akademik Strazheska, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska and Semyon Sklyarenko streets ;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily content of sulfur dioxide:

  • 1.5-2.0 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Beresteyski and Obolonski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, Akademik Strazheska, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Inzhener Borodin, Kaunaska and Semyon Sklyarenko streets ;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily formaldehyde content:

  • in 1.5-2.2 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Nauka, Beresteyski and Obolonski avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, Akademik Strazheska, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Kaunaska and Semen Sklyarenko streets .

Exceeding the MPC by average daily carbon monoxide content:

  • 1.1 times – on Semena Sklyarenko Street (October 24).

Specialists of the observatory selected and analyzed 1496 atmospheric air samples from 16 stationary posts.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Kyiv, ADM LLC, which residents suspect of polluting the air in the Syrets, Kurenivka, and Zamkovyshte microdistricts, agreed to install an emissions monitoring sensor on the pipe.
