The project will be implemented during 2024-2026

In the Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr and Odesa regions, solar power plants will be installed on the buildings of the Centers for the provision of administrative services.

This is a pilot project worth $18 million, which is implemented thanks to the help of Korea, reports Government portal.

Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko emphasized that this project is part of efforts to decentralize the energy system – one of the key components of the energy strategy.

"Successful implementation of the project will allow scaling it to other regions, which will be an additional step on the way to creating a sustainable and distributed energy system of Ukraine. We thank the Korean side for their contribution to the decentralization and strengthening of our energy system," he said.

It is noted that the project will be implemented during 2024-2026. This will make it possible to ensure autonomous power supply of Centers for the provision of administrative services, and therefore, their operation. In addition, it will reduce the load on the centralized network.

Deputy Minister of Energy Yaroslav Demchenkov explained that the project provides for:

  • conducting an energy audit;
  • energy management training;
  • modernization of electrical networks in buildings;
  • installation of solar panels with energy storage.

Earlier, Ecopolitic wrote, that on the roof of one of the largest industrial plants in Vinnytsia, GreenCool LLC, which produces refrigeration equipment, installed a rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 600 kW.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Mukachevo, in Zakarpattia region, a water intake station was equipped with solar panels with a capacity of 20 kW.
