Green generation provided more than 40% of energy needs in Ukraine

In August, 1,848,056.3 MWh of electricity was sold

In Ukraine in August, hydropower, energy from the sun, wind and other alternative sources provided about 43% of electricity needs.

The largest market share on the "day-ahead" (DAN) and intra-day (IND) markets was provided by nuclear and solar energy, reports Market operator.

The share of each energy source used for electricity production in August reached:

  • nuclear fuel – 23.08%;
  • solar radiation energy – 21.41%;
  • energy of waves and tides, hydropower – 18.01%;
  • coal – 8.34%;
  • natural gas – 8.32%;
  • fuel oil – 3.33%;
  • biomass – 0.8%;
  • biogas – 1.24%;
  • wind energy – 1.91%;
  • geothermal energy – 0.02%;
  • balancing market and import (undefined) – 2.34%;
  • no information provided regarding – 11.06%.

It is noted that in August 1,848,056.3 MWh of electric energy was realized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Ukraine in July solar generation generated 28.33% of all energy, and about half of the energy was generated from renewable sources, and inhydro power plants generated 3.56%.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the chief energy economist of the International Energy Agency, Tim Gould, said that the Russian-Ukrainian war provided a political impetus for the rapid deployment of RES technologies renewable energy in the EU, the USA and other countries.
