Eco-inspectors took water samples for laboratory research

In the village of Petropalivska Borshchagivka near Kyiv, eco-inspectors discovered the pollution of the lake.

The water in the lake became cloudy with soap bubbles and acquired a specific smell, the State Environmental Inspection of the Capital District reported on Facebook.

The report said that the coastal protection zone of the lake is cluttered, and the reservoir itself is clogged. In addition, the surface of the reservoir was covered with grayish-green foam.

"Unknown people have turned the pond into a cesspool," the eco-inspectors wrote.

They emphasized that they took water samples for laboratory research.

Pollution of water bodies increases the risk of algae blooms and fish kills, especially in the hot summer months.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Brovar District Prosecutor's Office of the Kyiv region informed about the suspicion of an official of one of the communal enterprises, who violated the rules of environmental safety. In 2021, effluents from sewage treatment plants polluted the Krasylivka River for a long time, which caused ecological damage of more than 4 million hryvnias.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a study by scientists from the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Examinations showed that the water and soil of the Kyiv region are contaminated with residues of explosives, chemicals, and fuel and lubricants.
