Everyone can help the energy system

NEC "Ukrenergo" urged residents of Poltava region, Sumy region, Zhytomyr region, Kharkiv region, Kyiv and the region not to overload the power grid in order to avoid emergency power outages.

This was reported by the press service of "Ukrenergo" on Telegram. Energy-efficient household habits can be used to help utilities restore the grid after the latest Russian missile attack on March 9.

Household energy efficiency means that a person uses less energy for his needs, but does not limit them.

What everyone can do:

  • turn off the light where it is not needed;
  • do not turn on several energy-consuming devices at the same time;
  • do not defrost food in hot water;
  • dress warmer, instead of turning on the heater;
  • do not put warm or hot dishes in the refrigerator, but let them cool down;
  • close the refrigerator quickly and tightly;
  • save water, especially hot water;
  • pour no more water into the teapot than is needed for one cup of tea;
  • take a shower instead of a bath;
  • turn off computers and laptops, and not leave them in standby mode;
  • do not leave the phone on the charger all night;
  • make the most of daylight.

How to make your home more energy efficient:

  • replace old incandescent lamps with LEDs;
  • when buying new equipment, give preference to the one with a higher energy efficiency class;
  • move the refrigerator as far as possible from the stove and other heaters;
  • regularly defrost the refrigerator;
  • replace old windows with double ones, or at least insulate them;
  • set an electronic faucet that will release water from the faucet only when you wash your hands, dishes, etc.;
  • repair "leaking" faucets and plumbing.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, since February 25, in Ukraine, the program for exchanging old incandescent lamps for new LED lamps has been extended to all villages, cities and towns.
