In Mykolaiv region, DTEK Group built the first phase of the Tyligul wind power plant with a capacity of 114 MW out of the total announced of 500 MW.
The project became the "first step" in achieving the goals of the "30 to 2030" initiative, the goal of which is to deploy 30 GW of green capacities in Ukraine by 2030, reports the press service of DTEK.
"The energy terror of the enemy showed the power of Ukrainian energy workers and clearly defined the need to move towards energy independence of Ukraine, to move towards strengthening energy security. All this can be achieved thanks to renewable energy, which after the Russian invasion began its even more rapid development in the world," said SCM investor Rinat Akhmetov.
He added that over €1 billion has been invested in solar and wind farms over the past 11 years.
"In 2022, we had big plans to build a new Tyligul wind power plant. However, the Russian invasion temporarily suspended the project," Akhmetov noted.
The press service emphasized that DTEK is considering the possibility of completing the construction of the Tyligul wind farm and bringing it to its full design capacity of 500 MW. Negotiations are currently underway with international donors and partners regarding the further implementation of the project.
"Despite all the challenges, during the year of the war, DTEK built an additional 114 MW of green generation for the country. It was a difficult task, but thanks to the high professionalism and bravery of the company's employees, a new wind farm with 19 turbines will be operational already in the spring," said DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko.
He emphasized that the construction of new renewable energy facilities sends a signal to international partners that it is possible to invest in Ukraine today without waiting for the end of the war.
The press service emphasized that the opening of the new wind power plant is a practical step by DTEK towards the realization of the "30 to 2030" goal, despite the wartime conditions. At present, the installed renewable energy capacity in Ukraine, taking into account the temporarily occupied facilities in the south of the country, is about 10 GW. The increase of green generation to 30 GW will allow Ukraine to achieve a 50% share of RES in the power system capacity structure.
It is noted that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, has repeatedly emphasized that green energy is the future of Ukraine, and the process of energy decentralization has already begun. For DTEK, the development of green generation is a priority direction of development, which should lay the foundation for the great recovery of Ukraine.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the National Commission for State Regulation in the Fields of Energy and Utilities (NKREKP) recorded the licensed capacity of DTEK Tyligulska WES within 36 MW.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, DTEK company increased production of solar electricity from 18.5 million kWh in January to 35.2 million kWh in February.
