Ukraine plans to become an "energy hub" for Europe

Ukraine can increase renewable energy capacity from the existing 3 GW to 10 GW in 2 years.

This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Office of the President (OP), Rostislav Shurma, during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, reports News in France.

"You can buy agricultural land very quickly, speed up connection to the network, and at the same time make all processes transparent," Shurma said.

The article noted that according to Vestas CEO Henrik Andersen, Ukraine could deploy 30 GW of "green" energy in a few years, which is equivalent to the capacity of about thirty nuclear reactors.

Shurma also emphasized that Ukraine needs about €40 billion of investments for infrastructure modernization. After all, the country plans to decentralize the energy system and become an "energy hub" for Europe, thanks to the export of "green" hydrogen and "clean" energy.

He added that about 90% of the required investment is expected to come from the private sector. However, the main part of the amount will not arrive until the end of the war.

Earlier, EcoPolitic werote, that in Davos, Switzerland, January 16 the World Economic Forum began, which will be fully dedicated to overcoming global world crises, in particular environmental and the Russian-Ukrainian war.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that during the post-war reconstruction, emphasis will be placed on the implementation of green projects, and Ukraine is ready to become one of European hubs of modern green energy.
